PRIVATE RESEARCH & EXPERIMENTS

ONGOING INVESTIGATIONS & EXPERIMENTS

LOCATION - PRESTBURY, GLOUCESTERSHIRE, ENGLAND

There is now a weekly experimental group, sitting for physical mediumship, EVP & ITC.  Any key results/data from this ongoing group will be posted up here.

LOCATION - GLOUCESTERSHIRE, ENGLAND

DETAILS:
A and his partner S are a young, professional couple in their 20's.
In February of 2016, they moved into a property, located between the towns of Stroud and Cheltenham.  They have 3 cats.

PROPERTY LAYOUT
The original building was used as a large factory and is around 300-350 years old.  The walls are thick, around 18 inches deep.
The building is large - divided up into smaller properties, each of a good size.  The layout of the house where A and S live is as follows:
Basement: a large cellar/workshop, containing storage space and electrical/communication outlets.
Ground floor:  Hallway, with three doors to basement, kitchen and a long, wood-panelled room.  Doors from the panelled room and kitchen also lead to a small reception room.
Upstairs: Stairs from the hallway lead to a large landing, three bedrooms and a bathroom.  The staircase is not an original feature of the house but was originally situated in a theatre in nearby Cheltenham.

RECORD OF UNUSUAL EVENTS
February:
According to S, the opening night in the new house was unusual, although both just assumed that this was due to the new house and stress of moving.
Around 9 pm, A and S were in their bedroom, located at the back of the house.  Both saw unusual lights in the room, accompanied by a change in atmosphere within the room, both in terms of heaviness and decreasing temperature. Both observed 'silver trails' moving across the room and an attempt was made to film them via a mobile phone.  A's first conclusion was that these were car lights from the busy road, although the bedroom has no direct access to the road.  One small window in the room overlooks fields and thick curtains were drawn at this time.
The coldness and lights lasted for around 30 minutes and then disappeared, with temperature restored.

Two weeks later, S came home from work at around 5 pm.  The cats were locked away in one upstairs room, as she needed to do work in the kitchen and the cats can be a nuisance around food.
S heard loud footsteps on the upstairs landing, followed by the sound of heavy steps descending the stairs towards the hallway.  Assuming an intruder was in the house (and being trained in martial arts) S grabbed a kitchen knife and retreated to the smaller living room, to telephone A.  She then searched the house, but found nothing, with all cats asleep.

March
S was seated in the smaller reception room at the back of the house, enjoying a morning cup of tea.  Cats were upstairs eating.  From her seated position, S heard footsteps on the carpet, followed by the depression of the floorboards by her feet, as if someone was walking by, towards a window in the room that looks out over countryside.  About a minute later, there was another floor depression and footsteps going away from the window back towards their original direction.

May
One Saturday morning, in the main bedroom at the back of the house, A's computer turned itself on, which woke both A and S.  Ac cording to A (who works in the computing industry) this is not physically possible.

A and S were returning home from work at the same time.  A went into the long, panelled room to place his bicycle there.  As he did so, he claims to have heard a low, growl right by his left ear.
Although there was a human element to the noise, no actual words were heard.

July
Long, panelled room.  A and S were watching television.  A's computer, now downstairs in the same room, again turned itself on.
A is bewildered and spends the rest of the evening trying to find a rational solution.

Long, panelled room.  S was asleep on the sofa.  As she stirred and opened her eyes she caught a brief glimpse of a male figure in the room.  The man was older, around 50's/60's.  He was wearing a brown coat.  The room temperature at this point was cold and felt 'electrically charged'.  The image of the man disappeared quickly.

August
S was upstairs in the bathroom when she heard a noise directly outside the bathroom door.  Her description was 'a male voice', although no words could be discerned.  Believing it to be A, she opened the door and shouted out, but A was downstairs.

An hour later, A was in the bathroom, where he claims also to have heard a male voice outside the door on the landing.  He described the sound as 'loud, but indistinct mumbling'.  Both commented on the fact that the voice sounded distorted, as if underwater.

Another incident in the bathroom - A was inside when 'a burst of very loud classical music just appeared in the room'.  According to A, it lasted for around ten seconds, before disappearing. Again, there was a slightly distorted sense to the sound.

On another occasion, S was in the main bedroom, laid on the bed, whilst A was in the bathroom.  The house cats were downstairs.
The door to the bathroom was knocked/thumped once very loudly, heard by both people.  A came out and asked why S was battering the door down, but S had not moved from the bedroom.  There is no direct line from the bed to the bathroom door; the distance between them is around 20 feet.

A and S were playing a games console in the panelled room when the house was plunged into darkness.  This lasted for a few seconds, before returning to normal.  On examining the electrical box, the trip switch had not been activated.  Later discussions with neighbours also verified that they had not experienced the same power loss.  S had mistakenly left the oven on in the kitchen and the search for the reason behind the power loss led her to turn it off.  Despite the oven being left on for some considerable time, the area around the kitchen and doorway to smaller room was very cold.  Both reported that the atmosphere was 'charged, like static electricity'.
Back in the panelled room, A joked that perhaps 'someone' was trying to persuade them to conduct an EVP session.  As he stated this aloud, the power went off again, lasting a few seconds before returning to normal.

Upstairs bedroom:  late evening - S was trying to get off to sleep and heard an unusual sound of whistling.  The sound was very loud and lasted for around ten seconds - once again with the slight feel of distortion/being underwater.  She states that it sounded as if the whistling was directly in the bedroom and not outside.
A little later, S had fallen asleep and A was reading in bed next to her when he felt a heavy weight fall onto his feet, as if someone was sitting on the end of the bed.  No cats were in the room at this time.

Panelled room:  S came home from a day out and was alone in the house around 5 pm.  Before leaving, S had made sure that the door from the panelled room into the smaller reception room was firmly closed.  The door is heavy and not easy to move.  The reason for this was that she did not want the cats to have access to the kitchen, where they might cause mayhem.
Upon returning home, she was dismayed to find the connecting door wide open, along with cats in the kitchen causing the feared mayhem.  At first, her attention was firmly on the cats and scolding them for the mess they had made.  Her thoughts then went to how the door had been opened at all.
In the long, panelled room, there is a fireplace.  On the long fireplace shelf is a large, wooden/glass clock (about 12 inches in length and heavy).  Also on the shelf are a photo frame (metal/glass), several candles, an incense holder and two toy dragons.  Around the wooden clock, S had placed some decorative lights.  While checking the connecting door for cat scratches, S noticed that everything on the shelf was now placed on the floor, with the exception of the decorative lights, the only item still on the shelf.  The clock and other items were upright on the carpet.  Nothing was smashed, broken or dented.

Long, panelled room: 6 pm - A and S have placed a wooden, coffee table in the room, in between a sofa and the fireplace.  In a drawer of the table, S had placed some crystals - a rose quartz, a citrine and amethyst.  The evening was particularly warm and muggy.  S noticed a change in the atmosphere of the room, including a drop in temperature and a 'charge' to the air.  There was also a sensation of being watched.  Her attention was drawn to the table drawer.  Upon opening it, she found that, despite the warm evening air (about 25 degrees at that time) the temperature in the room was dropping further.  On touching the three crystals, she was astonished to find that they resembled 'balls of ice', causing physical discomfort when she placed them against her skin.

COMMON OCCURRENCES
The most common events appear to concern the sound of footsteps, particularly around the areas of the landing, staircase and main bedroom.
While the long, panelled room appears often in reports, the smaller living room at the rear of the house seems relatively quiet.  The kitchen also seems quiet.  The other two bedrooms upstairs likewise, with no activity reported in either.
Regarding the cats in the house, it has been noted often that they appear distracted around the area of the staircase, hallway and main bedroom, in particular as if they are watching something.  On occasion, they have nervously left rooms at high speed for no logical reason.  This has coincided with a drop in temperature and other atmospheric changes.

CHARACTERS OF A & S
A and S come across as both intelligent, level-headed individuals.
A works in computer programming, while S works in a caring capacity.
In terms of bias, both are very different,
Neither could be termed as religious, although S is open towards spiritual thoughts and ideas.  Having said that, she is also possessive of a highly sceptical mind and attempts to rationalise every incident as it occurs.
A is the opposite, possessing a strong sceptical/cynical mindset.  For A, this series of unusual events since February has presented some difficult challenges in terms of personal belief and explanation.  Logic and rationality are his major tools and he applies them rigorously to every situation.
However, the sheer amount of experiences inside seven months has changed his mindset from 'absolute cynic' to 'unsure'.  Neither A or S come across as people prone to flights of fancy or imagination.  Their current mood is 'confused, but open to suggestion'.

ONGOING INVESTIGATION
Several visits have been made to the location, utilising both human sensory and electronic equipment at both different and the same times.

In terms of equipment, several EVP sessions have resulted in undetermined results - a major problem being that the long, panelled room is next to a busy road with frequent traffic.  Further EVP tests are planned over the coming months, using different equipment.
Temperature tests revealed a slight fluctuation in different parts of the house, in particular on the landing outside the bathroom door.
In terms of sensory investigations, the sudden drop in temperature and 'static electric' feelings have been monitored.  These intensify around the area of the panelled room and hallway, along with the stairs and landing, including audible sounds of knocking and footsteps.

Interested by the reaction of the house cats, a visiting dog was introduced into the location for an hour.  Sitting in the panelled room, the dog was calm at first and then became fascinated by the area of the hallway and stairs. At first, the dog simply stared out at the staircase, before moving out to the hallway and staring up the stairs towards the landing.  Like the cats, he appeared at times to be watching something which remained unseen to us, although temperature fluctuations coincided with this activity.  Despite, being a big, burly animal, the dog eventually began squeaking timidly and ran back into the panelled room with us.  This coincided with knocking sounds upstairs, some of which may have been cat-orientated, although there were heavier, 'stomps' also coming from the area of the landing/bathroom.

Investigations will continue and any activity recorded here.

ONGOING RESEARCH

A large part of 'Paranormally Curious' is focused around research within several fields associated with the paranormal and parapsychology.

As part of an ongoing research project, we are currently compiling a database of paranormal experiences from people across the world.
While primary aims are geared towards the collection of information/data into a central source, there are also potential aims to collate some information into a printed book.

We're particularly keen to hear accounts of 'After-Death Communication' (ADC).
This is where someone known to us appears to communicate to us, after their physical death.  This usually feels like someone is saying 'goodbye' to someone, or to comfort that person with the knowledge that life continues.
Although this is still sadly classed as a 'socially uncomfortable' experience, nonetheless it appears to be a common happening. ADCs tend to range from simple dreams and thoughts, right down to specific communications such as telephone calls, full-body appearances and even e-mails & texts.

As current research relates strongly towards personal experiences, we're not currently interested in 'third party' accounts, such as mediumship or advice from tarot/divination readers.  Nor are we interested in messages from ouija boards or other 'tools' used by some people/groups.
Accounts of physical mediumship, such as transfiguration, direct voice & materialization would be of interest - especially those conducted in a controlled environment using strong, visible light.

A list of suitable experiences would include:

Apparitions (whole or partial)
Apportations (the sudden appearance of physical objects)
Clairaudience (the physical hearing of spiritual activity)
Clairsentience (the sensing of spiritual activity)
Clairvoyance (the sighting of spiritual activity)
Deport (the sudden disappearance of physical objects)
Electronic Communication Sources (TV, Phone, PC, Radio)
Electronic Voice Communications (E.V.P.)
Ghosts
Hauntings
Healing
Levitation
Near-Death Experiences (N.D.E.)
Out of Body Experiences (O.B.E.)
Premonition
Reincarnation
Time Disturbance (the feeling that time has somehow altered)

The overriding purpose of this research and any subsequent publications will be to share information concerning paranormal/spiritual experiences in the hope of
a) spreading knowledge to the general public concerning the 'paranormal' and the possibilities of the continuation of the soul/spirit beyond our physical deaths.
b) alleviating general ignorance and stereotyping concerning paranormal research.
c)  alleviating general fear from those who worry about physical death.
d)  the promotion of knowledge that potential 'life after death' is open to ALL people and not merely those of a certain religious persuasion.

Personal accounts can be sent in confidence to either of the following emails:

kevmilsom@yahoo.co.uk

or

paranormallycurious@yahoo.co.uk

Naturally, we are aware that privacy can be a key element, or concern, where paranormal subjects are involved.
As made clear to everyone who has so far contributed personal accounts for consideration, we are very happy to use partial or complete aliases for any form of publication.
